Here is a simple plan to help your child/teen keep their rooms clean. Don't worry if the room is a disaster. Just set the timer for 15 minutes each day and get started. Continue clearing clutter each day until you find the tops of the dressers and the floor. By the end of the week, you will be amazed at the progress! When you are ready start the weekly plan.
Each week, make a mental note of the items that end up scattered about. Use baskets, boxes, shelves or create your own solution to keep these items together. You may need to try several different solutions before you find one that works. If something seems to be working... leave it alone!Dust all surfaces - this should be easy since they are all cleared off.During the first few weeks, you may want to assist (or at least supervise). Start by making sure that everything in the room has a home. Don't worry about perfect organization, just get the surfaces clear off.Pick a spot - you or your child can pick one spot for the day. Make a list of all the problem spots in the room and slowly check them off. Each day, encourage your child to perform the scheduled tasks. Give them a time limit and use a timer (15 minutes should be enough time). Don't be too picky, just try to guide them. They will soon figure out that if they clear their dresser on Monday and throw everything on the floor, that on Wednesday they will have to pick that stuff up AGAIN when they clear the floor.Another chemical ingredient that is also known to be hazardous to human and environment is the sodium hypochrolite or the household bleach. This type of chemical is highly toxic as it produces carcinogenic and toxic compounds when it reacts with the environment. This reaction can cause endocrine, reproductive and immune system disorders. It can cause allergic reaction to most infants and toddlers too. Sodium hypochrolite has a very strong cleaning ingredient that can also trigger allergies or even eczema to your babys sensitive skin. Mothers who are normally exposed to cleaners and detergents that contain sodium hypochrolite have also increases the risk of cancer and other serious illnesses.Clear the floor (just the visible parts for today)Change sheets and bring all laundry to laundry roomFree Day - you can also use this as a make up dayTuesdayRemember... it only takes 15 minutes per day to keep your child's bedroom neat and clean.MondayPhosphates are used to make detergents more effective by preventing dirt from settling back onto clothes. Home buyers, especially the ladies, take this as a major factor when considering buying a home.In general, you should fix up the exterior first because this is what people see first and it will give them an impression that your house is a keeper and is of high value. This doesnt mean that you should ignore the interior. Bottom-line, the most important part of the house that you should focus on to increase a fixer-upper homes value are the bathroom and the kitchen.Improve landscaping Taking care of the lawn and making it look attractive will add to the value of your fixer-upper home. You don't need to hire professional landscapers to improve its appearance.SundayDont overlook the garage, closets and laundry These three parts of the house are most of the time overlooked. As simple as them may seem, they can increase the value of the fixer-upper home because it adds convenience. Bedrooms with spacious closets are always attractive.
